FOR KIDS #10
By LUCA team
Prepare your texture hunt kit: a paper block and some wax crayons. Put them in your backpack and let’s find out how many different materials there are in your city!
Usually, when we walk around the city, we don’t pay so much attention to what there is around us. We are very focused on reaching our destination and not on the journey. Have you ever noticed how many different materials there are all around you during your walks?
Architects invest a lot of time choosing different materials and colours for the walls, the pavements, the street furniture and the species of plants for the green areas. During your adventure, you will find several materials for these urban elements. Each material has its own texture, which is one of the characteristics of a surface that you can experience by touching it. For example, it can be rough or smooth, soft or hard, natural or artificial, geometric or random…
So, let’s start your texture hunt! Collect as many textures as you can, retracing them on your paper block. Once back, hang on your wall all the textures you gained from your adventure. You’ll obtain a beautiful contemporary artwork!
Be proud of your great job, take some photos and send them – with your first name – by email to Giulia (g.zatti[a]luca.lu). We will publish them here.
