What is Geocaching?

The word Geocaching refers to GEO for geography, and to CACHING, the process of hiding a cache. Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. For more information, visit www.geocaching.com

* You can choose to subscribe to Geocaching Premium from your computer (9.99 EUR** for 3-month auto-renewal, or 29.99 EUR** for 1-year auto-renewal) or directly from the official app on your smartphone (6.17 EUR** for 1-month auto-renewal, or 31.03 EUR** for 1-year auto-renewal). For this second sketching session of the mini-series URBAN (HERITAGE) SKETCHING, our sketchers, together with the volunteering architects Jean-Paul Carvalho and Susanne Tietmann, went in Ellergronn at the “Centre Nature & Forêt Ellergronn”.

A beautiful spot, which offered them many different framings, such as some former train cars and all the buildings and facilities linked to them. The typical changing autumn light, luckily without rain, gave to the location variable atmospheres making even more interesting, challenging and for-all-tastes this live drawing experience. All the participants expressed their talent with different techniques and tools. What did they have in common? The spontaneity and the desire to share their sketching passion, meeting well-known friends and making new ones. And what better way to end this session than all together with a cup of tea in the nearby cafe!

You can go through their sketches in the gallery here on the left.

After five online sketching sessions, the 26 September 2020, the many participants of the first “Urban (Heritage) Sketching” session were delighted to be out together again with their favourite pencils, felt-tip pens and brushes.

As part of the Heritage Days 2020, accompanied by volunteering architects Arnaud De Meyer and Susanne Tietmann, the sketchers braved the autumn cold to head for Limpertsberg and more precisely for the Saint Joseph’s Church and the Lycée des Garçons de Luxembourg. The architecture, atmosphere and light of these unique and emblematic buildings visibly inspired both amateurs and beginners who enjoyed putting their skills into practice in a chilled and friendly mood.
